Chemical surface treatment of aluminium profiles

April 17, 2024
It is well known that the fresh surface of aluminum immediately forms a natural oxide film in the atmosphere.  Although this oxide film is very thin, it still endows aluminium profile with certain corrosion resistance, making aluminum extrusion profile more corrosion-resistant than steel. With different alloy components and exposure times, the thickness of this film varies, generally within the range of 0.005-0.015um.
However, this thickness range is not sufficient to protect aluminium profiles from corrosion. Through proper chemical treatment, the thickness of the anodization film can be increased by 100-200 times, transforming from a natural oxide film to a chemical oxide film. The corrosion resistance of  Industrial aluminum profile requires special attention during production and application processes.
